An Ode to Tim Burton

I love Tim Burton movies. As a teenager I dreamt of being Winona Ryder dancing in the flakes of ice as Johnny Depp carved his frozen sculpture. I wanted to be Lydia from "Beetlejuice" wearing all black while watching the world from a distance. I was an angtsy teenager, can you blame me?

So when I got a call about making a cake for a sweet 16 party based on Tim Burton movies I could hardly contain my excitement! This particular birthday girl wanted a "topsy-turvy"-style cake with a tier devoted to Edward Scissorhands (wee!!), one for Coraline, and one for The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Here's my creation based on the work of Mr. Burton's awesome films:

OMG that is an awesome cake! What a creative way to include the 3 films and even the layering is so Burton. Amazing job.

are the figures on top made of fondant or modelling chocolate??

The figures are made of gum paste and then hand-painted.
